Dog Days (and unfavoured earth-inheritors)

My brain is strange, and pairs seemingly (somewhat) related sayings to reach strange conclusions. For example:

1. Everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame
2. Every dog has its day
CONCLUSION: dogs get to be famous longer than humans. (is this because of a temporal approximation of dog-years?)

1. Fortune favours the bold
2. The meek shall inherit the earth
CONCLUSION: fortune does not favour those who shall inherit the earth. (maybe by the time the meek inherit it, it’s all skludgy and barren? do the fortunate inherit better planets?)

  1. youcantrewind answered: just some background for mulling over the 2nd pair: one is a latin proverb, the other is an out-of-context Beatitude (Matthew 5:5).
